Permaculture in Practice

Become a producer, not just a consumer of food with Permaculture in Practice volunteer sessions and paid workshops at our Goodman Community Farm.

Experience the abundance of growing food in soil and regeneratively. Learn to cook and make food and crafts from the herbs, vegetables, fruits and plants you grow.

Our Permaculture in Practice: Volunteer & Learn sessions are led by a pool of master gardeners and permaculture practitioners.

Our Permaculture in Practice: Grow, Cook, Make workshops are led by experienced members of our community including permaculture designers, educators, master gardeners, artists, makers, chefs and more. They're eager to teach sustainable ways to grow, cook, and live.

And, don’t worry if you have no idea what permaculture is - we're here to share and exchange knowledge and practical tips on how to live a more eco-conscious lifestyle based on the 12 Permaculture Principles.

Go ahead, browse and kick start your eco-friendly journey with us through a workshop or volunteer session!

Grow Cook Make Linda Tom session

Grow, Cook and Make Workshop

This workshop, hosted by Linda Tom, will showcase the versatility of unexpectedly simple and ubiquitous ingredients found in our markets and at the Goodman Community Farm—sweet potato leaves. She will demonstrate how to prepare the following dishes all requiring minimal cooking - Korean sweet potato leaf banchan, Filipino kamote top salad and a fragrant sweet potato leaf and basil pesto.

After exploring many different ways to use the sweet potato leaves, participants will join together to prepare and chop freshly harvested herbs for a dish that is a regional favourite - Nasi Ulam.
